One of the Hottest Tourist Destinations in Yunnan - Xishuangbanna

     

      Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture lies in the very south of Yunnan Province, borders Laos to the east and south, and Burma to the southwest. The region has a typical tropical monsoon climate, which brings an incredible array of animals and plant species. It is the home of  Dai people and Pu’er tea as well, the only place in China with wild elephants, and it has the best tropical rain forest in China.

 

 

    There are so many different attractions in Xishuanbanna which can meet the demands of all kinds of tourists: If you want to visit the rainforest, Wangtianshu Scenic Area is considered the best tropical rain forest in China.         Additionally, a Pu'er tea excursion can be surprisingly interesting. Xishuangbanna was known as the original home of Pu’er tea, and it has the most ancient Pu’er tea trees.         And beyond that, the Water-sprinkling Festival is also very interesting. It is New Year's Day for Dai people and is the most important and grandest festival of the year. It lasts three days from 13th to 15th in April. Dai people dip branches into the river and sprinkle the water onto others as a way to express their best wishes. In addition, the festivals of the Hani, Jino, and Yao ethnic minorities are also a part of the local ethnic customs.

 

 

      Transport is very convenient in Xishuangbanna. The Gasa International Airport is located in southwest Jinghong city in Xishuangbanna and is also the second international airport in Yunnan province. It is convenient to visit Jinghong by air, which only takes less than 1 hour from Kunming. Other ways like traveling by train, bus, or self-driving are also very convenient. If you are living in Yunnan, the China-Laos Railway opened on December 3, 2021, will be a good choice as well, which only takes about three hours from Kunming to Xishuangbanna. If you are worried about the cold weather in winter, Xishuangbanna will be the best choice for you to spend your wintertime.
