Tiger Leaping Gorge is the famous attractions in Yunnan. The canyon is one of the deepest in the world, with a vertical depth of nearly 4,000 meters. Due to the squeezing of two high snow mountains on both sides, Jinsha River shouts loud with turbulent riptide in an obstinate way to make this gorge a special cool and precipitous place for exploration. One of the snow mountains is the famous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596m) that stands on the southern side of the gorge and is visible from many places on the hiking trails on the northern side. And the other is the Haba Snow Mountain (5,396m) on the southern side of gorge.

The Tiger Leaping Gorge is about 20 kilometers long and consists of three parts: the Upper Gorge, the Middle Gorge and the Lower Gorge. The upper Tiger Leaping Gorge is wide and the water is slow. There are many villages and terraced fields in the hills beside the valley.

The middle section of Tiger Leaping Gorge is narrow and steep. The hiking trails are more challenging, but the hiking scenery is fantastic. It is good for hikers exploring the canyon's wild features.  Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge is the downstream area of Tiger Leaping Gorge. The river release from the narrow gorge and flows peacefully on the plain of Daju Village.
