Bookstores in Kunming

With the development of the Internet and E-book, the number of bookstores are decreased. Now many physical bookstores in Kunming, especially independent bookstores, are not limited to a single book-related business, often belonging to the combination of bookstores and cafes. Xinhua Bookstore

Xinhua Bookstore has a long history in Kunming, almost every people in their childhood has a special memory about Xinhua Bookstore. Xinhua Bookstore is a state-owned book publishing company of the People's Republic of China. It is affiliated to the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and under the China Publishing Group. It is the official bookstore of the state and one of the national publications promotion and distribution offices. The first Xinhua Bookstore in the country has founded in 1937 and the Yunnan Xinhua Bookstore has founded in 1950.

 

There are two large Xinhua Bookstore in Kunming downtown, due to the long history there are also become a landmark of locals. The first one is No.56 Nanping street, it has five floors which makes it become the biggest bookstore in Kunming. The second one is located in No.6 East Renmin raod, total four floors for books, and others become the office of Xinhua Bookstore.

Yanjiyou
