High-speed trains from Kunming to Lijiang will start running on January 5, 2019. Three pairs of trains will be operated every day, and one more pair will be opened during the peak period. The running time is as short as 2 hours and 58 minutes for the fastest pair, which is about 6.5 hours less than general trains. Visitors can take a quick ride during the day, or choose a night-time tourism culture train to sleep over the night on the train and arrive Lijiang in the next morning, enabling them to feel Lijiang atmosphere in advance on the train.

Mengzi, the birthplace of the national famous snack “cross-the-bridge rice noodles”, will also welcome high-speed trains on the same day. As the seat of the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, the 100-year-old Yunnan-Vietnam Railway and these brand-new high-speed trains will achieve historical convergence in Mengzi. From Kunming to Mengzi, three pairs of trains will be operated every day, and two more pairs will be opened during the peak period. The running time is as short as 2 hours and 43 minutes for the fastest ones, which is about 1 hour less than that of general trains.
