Thirteen Peaks in Yunnan Listed in 2017 Top One Hundred Chinese Famous Summer Mountains

Recently, the "2017 China Famous Summer Mountains" was released in Hong Kong. It is known that the "Ranking of 2017 China Famous Summer Mountains" was jointly studied, evaluated and completed by China Institute of City Competitiveness (CICC), Asia Pacific Environmental Protection Association (APEPA), Environmental Amenity Lab of International Culture Geographic Academy and China Public Praise Center (CPPC) in this year. Thirteen resorts in Yunnan are included in the list of 100 China summer famous mountains. 

 

  • Concord between Heaven and World – Yunnan Yulong Snow Mountain (4th place)

Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain is known as "Ouro" in Naxi language, meaning silver rock. Thirteen snow peaks of the mountain successively wriggle, like an "Enormous Dragon" soaring and fluttering, so it is called "Jade Dragon". Because its lithology mainly consists of the limestone and basalt, showing clear distinction between the black and white, it is also known as "black-and-white snow mountain", a holy mountain of Naxi people and the embodiment of "Sanduo", legendary patron saint for Naxi race. In 1984, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve was set up in Yunnan. In 2001, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain was rated as 4A level scenic spot, and it was rated as the first national 5A-class tourist scenic spot in May 2007. Here annual average temperature hits 12.79 ℃. July becomes the hottest month, and its monthly average temperature of Yunnan Jade Dragon Snow Mountain hits 17.9 ℃.

  • World Peak Spectacle - Yunnan Luoping Nase Peak Spectacle (13th place)

It seems to be the “happy-go-lucky and fairy wonderland” mentioned in the tale titled Journey to the West here. Hundreds of mountains are twined with cloud and mist, being immortal and misty, and Nase Peak Spectacle brilliantly raises and emerges. In small valley channel amid the small village of the mountain, waters and stones blend. A string of pools are dotted, being green as jade, and tender feeling is filled in the wells of Ganba. Unfathomable cliffs are haunted with thousands of wild monkeys.

  • Jizu Mountain in Binchuan, Yunnan (15th place)

Jizu Mountain, a famous Buddhist holy land, the intersection of Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism and the cradle of Buddhism and Zen across the world, receives its fame by virtue of extraordinary landscape and splendor of "Four Sights and Eight Views". It is named because of its mountain top erecting in the northwest, tail extending the southeast, stations forward with three limbs, and stretches backward a ridge, like chicken feet. Xu Xiake, a geographer in the Ming dynasty, had climbed the mountain and visited the resort twice, praising that splendid scenes of Jizu Mountain surpassed ancient and temporary times. Tianzhu Peak, main peaks of Jizu, is provided with 3,240 meters of elevation. It is allowed to view the sunrise to the east, view auspicious clouds to the south, watched Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake to the west, and appreciate Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the north by climbing up the top of the mountain, being appreciated by writers and poets in dynasties.

  • Authentic source of pan-pearl river delta, Yunnan Qujing Maxiong Mountain (22nd place)

Maxiong Mountain, with the elevation of 2,444 m, is the watershed of Nanpan River, Beipan River and Niulan River, receiving the title of “one water source drops into three rivers". And it is also the origin of the Pearl River, the third great river in China. Viewing Maxiong Mountain, it looks like a camel leisurely reclining in the plateau with its head extending to Bailang Reservoir to the southwest with tail swinging in Pianqiao Reservoir to northwest, and main peak of Maxiong Mountain and Laogao Mountain form the hump. By standing on the top of Maxiong Mountain, when you gaze into the distance, show off towering hills.

  • Yunnan Zhaotong Dashanbao Natural Reserve - Homeland of worldwide black-necked crane (27th place)

Dashanbao Natural Reserve is well-known for black-necked crane, wetland, meadow, valley, sea of clouds, sunrise, sunset, Buddha ray and other ecological landscape. In 2003, Dashanbao Natural Reserve was approved as “National Nature Reserve for Black-necked Cranes”, and it was included in the list of “International Important Wetlands" in 2004.
