As one of the native ethnic minority groups, most Lisu ethnic members live in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture and Weixi Lisu Autonomous County in the northwest of Yunnan. Each Lisu man is a warrior and a good hunter too. Among the carry-on tools of the Lisu men, long knives and crossbows are indispensable. 

What is most characteristic for the Lisus is the traditional festivals, including the Sword-pole Festival which is dubbed “the festival of the brave”, Kuoshi Festival which is the equivalent of the Spring Festival of the Hans, and the Bathing Festival which is deemed “bathing with the nature”.
