Pumis are descendents of the Qiang people living in the areas of Qilian Mt in ancient times, and they call themselves “Bai Lang Pan Mu”.
In Yunnan, the Pumis mainly live at the foot of Laojun Mt of Lanping County and Maoniu Mt of Ninglang County in the northwest of Yunnan. Both the Laojun and Maoniu mountains are known for captivating natural landscapes, and are must-go for self-driving tours. In these two areas, one can not only experience the ceremony of “bride kidnapping” of the Pumi people, but also can taste the local drool-inducing mutton and beef.
