The earliest settlement of the Manchu people in Yunnan took place in the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), and many Manchus also settled in places like Kunming following Manchu ethnic officials dispatched by the Qing court.
Ru’an Neighbourhood of Kunming is one of Manchus-inhabited areas in Yunnan and is nicknamed “Street of Banners’ People”. In the late Qing Dynasty, the Manchu ethnic member Hu Yunfeng initiated the bakery “He Xing Lou” which was famous for the Moon cake “Huo Tui Si Liang Tuo” (ham-pied Moon cake weighing 200 grammes).
