Situated in the northeast of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the village is 100 km from the Old Town of Lijiang. It is an important part of the Mountain as well as a key protected historical site in Yunnan Province.

The village sits on a giant rock with its folk residences of the Naxi ethnic style arranged closely side by side. Many household utensils such as the water vats, troughs, stools, tables, stoves and even beds are all chiseled out of natural rocks and hence exhibit high scientific and artistic values.
