Zhoucheng Bai ethnic village

23 kilometers to the north of Dali Old Town, Zhoucheng is the largest Bai village in Dali composed of about 1,500 families.

Most of the residences in Zhoucheng are designed in the Bai ethnic traditional style “Houses on Three Sides and a Screen Wall in the East”. These houses wood-earth structure with delicate carvings and flying eaves look extraordinarily beautiful and compact, and embody the ethnic characteristics of the Bai People.

Zhoucheng has enjoyed a broad fame for its traditional Bandhnu (tie-dyeing) craft that can date back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
