Also called song gan festival, the Water-splashing Festival has enjoyed a history of over 700 years, and is a common, grand traditional festival of the Dai people and De’ang people. It takes place in middle April and normally lasts 3-7 days. A series of traditional ceremonies and activities normally go with the festival, and people splash or get splashed on/by each other to express best wishes.
