Heshun old town

Heshun known as Yangwendun in ancient times is 3 kilometers south of Tengchong County seat in the west of Yunnan. For a long time, it has enjoyed the fame such as Hometown to Overseas Chinese and Hometown to Literati.

 

Li Genyuan (1879-1965) the interim prime minister of the Republic of China (1912-1949) praised it as "A Miniature of Intriguing Suzhou and Hangzhou". Main attraction of Heshun include the Heshun Library, the Memorial for Ai Siqi (1910-1966, China's reputed philosopher), and Museum for the War against Japanese Invasion etc. 

 

Heshun Library

As one of the biggest countryside libraries in China housing more than 70,000 books, it is the former site of Xianxin Agency in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) and Yueshu Newspaper Office of 1924. In 1928, overseas Heshunese and country fellows afforded to build the library and a new one was set up till 1938. Xiong Qinglai (1893-1969) a famous mathematician inscribed for it "Ming Zhi Yuan Quan" (the source of wisdom).
